Host_John: we had a lot of rain last night from Hannah
Host_John: Tonight's topic
Host_John: Burial Permits and Death Certificates
Host_John: what do they cost
Host_John: here we pay $20. for Burial permits
Host_John: and $10. for Copies of Death Certificates
jaycofd: no cost for Bp here, yet
Host_John: what state R U Jay?
jaycofd: New York
jaycofd: Syracuse
Host_John: how much are Copies of DC?
jaycofd: $30 for the first one and $15 for each additional, per order
Host_John: familes think they are free!
Host_John: WOW
fluidpusher has joined.
jaycofd: Rochester, Ny is a flat $30 per copy
Host_John: 30 for the first one!
jaycofd: yes
Host_John: that is a cash cow for the Town
jaycofd: some townships are only $10 each
jaycofd: this is done by the county
pafuneralguy: some counties in ohio are $ 45. each Dc
Host_John: a cash cow if you ask me
Fishawk has joined.
Host_John: for a piece of paper we do all the work!
jaycofd: outside of Onondaga county it can change
fluidpusher: which ones, pafuneralguy? I;m in ohio, average is $20, never heard of $45
Host_John: Yikes $45!
Host_John: well we know for sure $30 in NY
pafuneralguy: we have had ship-ins that cost that, not in my office to look it up, I amm certain it did cost that much
Host_John: do you consider it high?
Host_John: for a piece of paper?
pafuneralguy: very high....crazy
shawn has joined.
Host_John: we should consider notorized copies?
Host_John: sell them for $5.
jaycofd: illegal , here in Ny
pafuneralguy: not permittd to copy at all in Pa
Host_John: can you explain Jay?
brud has left.
Host_John: we make photo copies here
jaycofd: A notary can not certify a death certificate copy
Fishawk: Ct gets $3 for burial permits, cremation permits and 10. per Cc What really is the difference as they are cash advanced and passed on ?
jaycofd: I am a notary
Host_John: Understood
fluidpusher: permit in ohio is $3
pafuneralguy: this will take you to Pa state page for Dc
Host_John: not much difference fish however when you get 20 for a BP and 30 for cc, when do you draw the line?
jaycofd: it ends up being easy cash for the municipality
Host_John: we provide the DC
Host_John: yes it is easy cash
Host_John: lets give the gov more money!
Fishawk: I dont really see a line. It is what it is and the family has to pay. The States sets the fees not us.
POG70 has joined.
jaycofd: Here the state sets the fee, but the individual registrars can up it, with state approval
Host_John: each time I see a fee increase I will make time to go to the public hearing
POG70: Howdy, all
Host_John: hello POG
fluidpusher: http://www.odh.ohio.gov/assets/1f51d9a59e92410a973360b1779f91f3/ohio%20local%20health%20district%20directory.pdf
Fishawk: And that is a good thing to do , but in the end it is still a pass on we cannot control.
fluidpusher: That link will take you to Ohio's cert copy charges. Charged by County, range from 16.50 to 20.00 Not $45
Host_John: cool link Fish thank you
angel has joined.
Host_John: whoops
Host_John: I ment Fluid
Fishawk: I look at the fees sort of like obit charges by newspapers. If they go up a buck or two per inch.......they go up and thats it.
mactj2 has joined.
fluidpusher: It's all cash advanced, at least it should be.
Host_John: well towns are charing the dead
POG70: State of Tennessee Hd sets fees: Dc copies $ 7.00; cremation permits $ 25.00; no charge for transit permits; no burial permits issued
Fishawk: that is my point fluid
fluidpusher: Agree
Host_John: make time when you can to check out Massachusetts delema on illegally charging for BPs
pafuneralguy: I got screwed then by bthe Fd that shipped to me
fluidpusher: Perhaps he charged you $45 to get it signed and filed, pa
Fishawk: A better question might be who makes an additioal professional fee for filing and securing the permit and copies?
Host_John: maybe he married up the CC charge and BP charge PA?
pafuneralguy: no, he charged me 45 each
Fishawk: Or do you just consider it part of "professional Service"
jaycofd: unfortunately, they will find a way to charge for the air we breath
pafuneralguy: I will look it up on Monday and call him
pafuneralguy: I trust Fd's when I use them
Host_John: we include it in our professional fee to family and fd's
Fishawk: Some firms here actually have the na nas to charge $395. for a utility veihicle to make a run to City Hall.
fluidpusher: me, too, John, the filing charge, that is
Host_John: Fish please don't use funeral home charges
fluidpusher: Ohio is all computer based death certificates
pafuneralguy: I never charge extra to file....it is out job
Host_John: thanks
POG70: Ftc is ok with charging more for a Dc copy than you pay for it, as long as you disclose to the customer you are doing that
Host_John: many do charge for a vehicle to do the running around
Host_John: a good idea
Fishawk: Sorry.......
fluidpusher: right, pog, just like every other cash advance
Host_John: we have not tried it but it is a good idea
Host_John: family looks at bottome line
shawn has left.
POG70: However, I don't know of any funeral home that does charge more than the Hd fee
Host_John: they spent WXYZ000
pafuneralguy: it is your job to get it signed and filed.....how could you feel right in charging extra
Fishawk: Some do paf
POG70: We figure it's part of our Basic Services
Host_John: the certified copies we have here in Lovely Lowell are sent in color
pafuneralguy: not too smart
Host_John: not easy to replicate
fluidpusher: Ohio uses special paper, cannot be copied without being marred
Evita has joined.
Host_John: some towns just shoot them out of photocopier
Host_John: put the stamp onthem
Fishawk: I only photo copy when sending to Va or Welfare offices.....oops di I say that ?
Host_John: I appreciate the more secure copies
pafuneralguy: fluid.....i called my office, it was in columbus at the university and was a shipping service....was $ 45. each copy
angel: But a photocopy isn't certified?
fluidpusher: that's too bad, they ripped you off, unless there was a medical examiner fee or something. I'm about 90 miles north of Columbus, don't get too many out of there
Fishawk: Correct but those people wouldnt know the difference and I can save my families a few bucks.
angel: I guess I can't say what the cost is here in Cols but it's a lot less than 45 for a cert.
hinge-cap has joined.
fluidpusher: pafuneralguy, Franklin County charges $20 per copy.
Fishawk: New copiers can make very authentic looking bogus copies, certainly good enough for the government.
POG70: In tennessee, you can use a photocopy for insurance claim less than 7500. Fd has to srare on it that it is a photocopy of the originalangel: Ha Ha Fish you may have a point.
pafuneralguy: some in florida are high as well
Fishawk: Been doing it a long time
pafuneralguy: you can have you license taken away for that
hinge-cap: Sc is online...it is terrible
Fishawk: Now if I could get the 20's to look as good as the certified copies I would be a rich man !
Evita: I'm going to take the Ct board exam soon to validate by license. Anyone there remember what part should I study the hardest?
POG70: Lol I said srare when I meant to type state sorry
Host_John: color copier I can see counterfiting!
angel: Insurance companies will look for any way not to pay out a claim so I don't take a chance, I use the official one.
fluidpusher: Ohio has worked out a lot of the bugs with the online system. It works pretty well now.
Fishawk: Evita....why are you taking Ct? Why not National Board ?
Host_John: Excellent point angel
Host_John: Insurance companies will usually look for a way to wiggle out of a claim
jaycofd: no doubt, John
fluidpusher: Don't most of the preneed companies accept photocopies?
S_Moore has joined.
POG70: We do at our firm use the certified copies...avoids hassles and delays with some companies
angel: Not to mention they take forever to pay claims sometimes
Evita: I moved from Az and here they want me to take the Ct board
jaycofd: some do, our bank where the preneed accounts are, will
Host_John: Some take a fax Fluid
pafuneralguy: I call the claim in and right an insurance draft for the company with my blanks
fluidpusher: Right, John, that's been my experience.
Host_John: DC's are public record
Fishawk: So you didnt have the National in Az ?
POG70: Most preneed companies we work with take faxed dcs
Host_John: why can't we look at them online
VicS has joined.

VicS: hi tom
Host_John: OPEN FORUM FUNERAL CHATTER UNTIL THE TOP OF THE HOUR!!!
VicS: We file Dcs online in Ca
angel: Woo Hoo
POG70: Hello, Sam
Fishawk: My understanding is that if you had an Az license with National board certification you are good to go. Maybe that has changed.
fluidpusher: John, are we allowed to talk about $$ invested with Nps? Or is that a no-no?
Host_John: EVITA has a question about her upcoming CT board test
Host_John: what is NPS?
Evita: It probably changed. My luck
hinge-cap: anyone having trouble with donor organizations doing things in a timely manner
fluidpusher: National Prearranged Services, a preneed insurance company that is going belly up. Some of us have $$ with them
Host_John: Open Forum now
pafuneralguy: they went broke
Host_John: would rather you not discuss funeral home fees and company names
POG70: "gone With the Wind" fp
Host_John: BRB
fluidpusher: Okay, that's fine
angel: What do you mean by timely manner?
S_Moore: Fannymae and Freddie mack were taken into conservatorship today

S_Moore: Pog is over 21 and taken Angel lol
POG70: I'm crazy, but not that crazy
Tom: John maybe next week if Vic is going to be here... the subject can be Opening a new Mortuary or Location... what's involve... positives and negatives... ?
hinge-cap: timely manner would be that it does not take 6-8 hours four cornea removal
angel: I agree, any Fd is better than all those politicians any day
pafuneralguy has left.
fluidpusher: who has four corneas?
jsmack5: lol fluid.... cyclops?
fluidpusher: ha ha
VicS: I will be here as long as no one opens another mortuary in San Diego. Lol
S_Moore: spelled for
hinge-cap: sorry english major... fo
hinge-cap: for
angel: Who is doing that removal, a trainee? Or did they have to wait to get a room?
Evita has joined.
hinge-cap: angel-you must be in organ/tissue field
angel: The hospitals own those Or's and they have no problem pushing the recovery team off to the side
jsmack5: seems like every time i get an organ donation.... it is corneas, several organs and skin...
Evita: Thank you Fishawk for responding. I 'm going to take the test for embalmer. I had my Az license for 2 years as both, but it seem that Ct F.h. will not hire you if you are not licensed
angel: yes I am
fluidpusher: All of our donation cases are taken 60 miles away to be done, then brought back to us, all transportation provided by organization, but it does cause delays.
POG70: Last "donor" I had was kept for hours...body came in with bandages over eyes...but Nothing Was Taken!
angel: Yes, delays but the recipients who get to live are very grateful for your time.
hinge-cap: all delays cause embalming problems
Purge_Lipps has joined.
angel: Here, an eye bank does eye recoveries so we do nothing but get consent and call them. I haven't had complaints.
hinge-cap: where is here angel?
angel: Oh
Evita: Thank you Fishawk. I will give him a call
cnmmnc: Gee, in Nj the organ/tissue network has taken to paying the fh off, but that's nothing new in the garden state...it's $250 for the extra time embalming, suturing, sealing unionalls etc...
cnmmnc: you have to send in a form...
angel: Similar here. We provide unionalls and reimburse for extra embalming, usually a fee similar to a post.
jaycofd: we have that here, they reimburse the embalmer for his time, I bill them $300 for a bone and skin donation
jsmack5: where in your Gpl is there a time limit on a prep?
POG70: Sometimes we get unionalls, sometimes not....but never a fee

POG70: Angel, i wish y'all would enlighten your colleagues down here
angel: The benefit to the donor family is invaluable in the healing process.
Host_John: I use it as mark to show where I have copied the chat to show on the site later
fluidpusher: That's nice John
angel: Is that Memph or Nash?
POG70: Chattanooga
Host_John: posting has been easier than I thought
angel: Oh, Choo choo. what do they do there?
Evita has left.
Host_John: I have got a few comments on those who read the chat weeks later
Fishawk has left.
mactj2: where do you post them john>
mactj2: ?
Tom: Any input on the new Vp choice
jsmack5: hmmm... evita... then fishawk.....
Host_John: she is awesome Tom
jsmack5: i think it is great
Host_John: I am votin for Sarah
angel: Any embalmer would be better. This economy needs to be resurrected.
cnmmnc: I can't believe the state fd's are charging members to attend the convention...
Host_John: LLL angel good one
POG70: Last one they had us remove body but not embalm until they oked 12 hours later I called them to seek release...."oh, no...we have another 12 hours" I told them I didn't have that long..the body was going to go bad.
POG70: They thought it was refrigerated...it was not
jsmack5: ahh...pog... works in the real world....like me...lol
Tom: Sounds like everyone is voting for Mccain here... wonder where the Obama votes are coming from ?
angel: Oh--- true, they do not have 24 hrs with no refrig
POG70: cnmmnc, it costs so much here, I don't go
jsmack5: taliban?
Purge_Lipps: Tom........ what's 100ll & Jet-a go for on the left coast ?
Host_John: Obama likes the idea to tax business
Host_John: people know who will pay the businesses
Tom: Obama bin Biden
Host_John: LOL good one Tom
jsmack5: lol tom
POG70: True, Angel, but they sent the body out of the hospital where they did have regrig
cnmmnc: I'm not going this year, just to spite them
fluidpusher: 100ll about $5 here in Ohio
fluidpusher: more at the bigger airports
jsmack5: hmmm... been doing this... god knows how many years..... never been to a convention
cnmmnc: its silly
angel: Sounds like they have issues. I'll check it out.
POG70: cnmmnc, ours had special room deal at hotel..... we got room at same hotel for 50 dollars less
cnmmnc: all the sales reps. love to see you then when you turn around theyre talking behinnd your back
jsmack5: and you still buy from them...
cnmmnc: not the usual suspects
angel: What do they say?
RonHast has joined.
fluidpusher: Im going to nfda in orlando, starting to wonder why...
jsmack5: welcome Ron
Tom: Not all... cnmmnc... that like saying all funeral directors...
Host_John: Hi Ron
Host_John: Fluid have you been before?
jaycofd: Hi Ron
fluidpusher: John, many times...
Host_John: Bring the kids
angel: Hi Ron, but bye Ron, I have to get to bed, 24 tomorrow. Night all
Host_John: Orlando is a lot of fun
RonHast: :-) - Thanks for the welcome.
fluidpusher: every time I complain how much $$ it costs
Host_John: NFDA does not take attendence
POG70: Very little they have the law on their side
hinge-cap: 24 tomorrow?
angel: 24 hour shift
fluidpusher: always depends on the location
jsmack5: brb
cnmmnc: my prediction is... less attandees because of the charging everyone now
hinge-cap: you a nurse?
Host_John: Convention is $$$$ for the Assocition
angel: No, Lfd who'd probably make more as a nurse.
RonHast: If going to Nfda convention, be prepared to see a diminishing participation. Suppliers are together on winding it down.
cnmmnc: and can you believe the high prices they get from the suppliers?
hinge-cap: last Nfda in Orlando was a bust
RonHast: Times are changing. Nfda is not important to many any more. Surprised it took so long.
Host_John: it was just after 911
Tom: So Ron what should be important to funeral director today
POG70: Average fd can't afford to go
angel: I work in an Opo providing care and comfort for donor families
hinge-cap: why didn't they cancel/postpone it?
angel has left.
RonHast: Staying in tune with public needs and desires. Trying to preach old traditions is plainly riduculous.
Host_John: Jeeze I don't know
cnmmnc: basically they only nfda conventions that do well, attendancewise, are the ones in Las Vegas, and 'fun' spots
Host_John: well OCTOBER in Florida is after School Opens
hinge-cap: Vegas was good, but too much to do otherwise
RonHast: Always back to "where the convention happens". Not surprising that it isn't because of what the convention and values may be. Shameful.
Host_John: I can see them taking a vote to change dates to mid summer to see if they can get members to vacation at convention
Tom: Do you think seminars such as the one's you put on, are a better investment than going to the convention
hinge-cap: registration fees are rediculous
Host_John: BRB
RonHast: Is the vacation more important? Or information and good leadership in today's service needs?
mactj2 has left.
cnmmnc: like I said at the start I'm not going just to send them a message
fluidpusher: Vacations are very important
barry has joined.
hinge-cap: at least you could take the family and write a lot of it off
VicS has left.
RonHast: So you are saying that the opportunity to go on a vacation and have the business pay for it is the primary attraction???
cnmmnc: lol
Tom: Better tell us what the topic is again... John... I didn't get an email... since we are back on topic
RonHast: Now we're getting to the real issue. Kind of sad.
fluidpusher: I own the company, so, yes, it is nice to pay for the trip with company dollars instead of personal dollars.
hinge-cap: any small business owner this day and time would consider it
POG70: cnmmnc, think they care?
RonHast: Then why not tell Nfda that's what's important to you. Not all the Bs that's touted as being important with speakers and information.
fluidpusher: I really don't care about the convention. I will go, so as to legitimize the trip. Then we're going on a Disney cruise!
cnmmnc: well you'll read the groaning and complaining
Tom: Ron do you think are politicians go on vacation without somehow writing it off..
RonHast: If they didn't pay for all the travel and whoop-la from presenters, they could make the convention much more affordable and attractive. Let's get our priorities straight here.
fluidpusher: Coming from someone from California, who is not a member of Nfda
RonHast: Tom: Politicians aren't in business. They draw off of the system to travel and carry on. It doesn't cost them anything.
cnmmnc: like leaches...
Host_John: OK Back on topic now Death CertificateS and Burial Permits$
RonHast: Most private operators in California are Not members of Nfda.
Purge_Lipps has left.
barry: where i am at, michigan & ohio ...ohio permit is $3 and michigan the fd can issue at no cost....dc's are outrageus in ohio....avg. cost $20 each copy
Host_John: what do Certified Copies of Death Certificates cost from your town hall?
fluidpusher: you close to the border, barry?
hinge-cap: barry...are you doing d/c's online?
Host_John: $10 each
cnmmnc: $20, permit $15
jsmack5: Nyc Dc is $15 Nys Dc is $10 no charge for permit
barry: no...i do not have an ohio lic.
fluidpusher: you in se mich, barry?
barry: ohio has an online system
fluidpusher: im in Nw Ohio
barry: yes right on the border
hinge-cap: In Sc, Dc's are $12 for one and $3 for each additional one at time of order
Host_John: New York reports $30 for a CC
jsmack5: No John... Nyc $15 per copy...

jsmack5: State cert is $10 per copy
Host_John: Hmmm
jaycofd: Onondaga County, New York, $30 for first copy and $15, for each additional , per order
barry: in jackson county, michigan....they are only $10 first copy and $2 each extra copy
jaycofd: Monroe County, New York, Flat $30 per copy
barry: bargain
fluidpusher: barry, ever eat at Schulers in Marshall, Mi?
Host_John: Rochester $30
jsmack5: Long Island... $10 per copy..
jaycofd: yes John tht is true
barry: yes long time ago, the jackson location went out of business, but marshall is still open
fluidpusher: i fly my plane to marshall, and schulers comes and picks me up for dinner. yum
Host_John: cannot understand why FD's just don't pay attention as fees go up in our industry
Tom: Ever have the family complain about the cost of Filing and copies of the Dc
barry: marshall is a nice town
Host_John: I am confident there were public hearing on fees going up in NY
jaycofd: Yes I have many times Tom
RonHast: Ho-hum... Thanks for the variables. R.
jsmack5: I do.... but when they tell you that is what they are charging.... what is your option
POG70: We pay attention, John, but complaining does no good
fluidpusher: It's just another cost, cash advanced like everything else
jaycofd: I was in Red Creek, New York, Wayne County. There was a road that was divided my a county line.
Host_John: well in Mass they took them to court and won
cnmmnc: well folks are apathetic
RonHast has left.
jsmack5: do not understand why a state cert is $30 upstate and $10 on long island
jaycofd: onen side was $10 per copy and the other side was $5 per copy
Host_John: recent court decision says BP chage is illegal
jaycofd: the sate of New York allows it as long as you ask for the approval
barry: thing i don't like about michigan is that on the transit/burial permit for cremation the med. exam. has to approve it with a stamp, that is o.k., but most counties charge $75.00 for the stamp
Host_John: Ill bet the Mass assn of FD's does nothing to aid FD's of ridding these charges
jaycofd: Onondoga County has been this way for 2 years
POG70: no burial permit required here
POG70: no charge for transit permit
jaycofd: Monroe County has been that way for about 3
Host_John: 5 or 10 bucks for a piece of paper fine
jsmack5: a fee is a fee.... if it is one price in one part of the state... it should be the same all over the state
cnmmnc: this is true
Host_John: but 30 is way out of line
POG70: I agree, js
barry: alabama does not not have a transit/burial permit anymore
jaycofd: very true Js, however, this is the great state of New York, home of high taxes, fees and surcharges.
POG70: true, Barry
S_Moore has left.
cnmmnc: and corruption
sirwilhelm1: how many dcs do any of you recommend a family should order and why?
barry: i wonder if colorado is the same...no regulation...no permit?
cnmmnc: Nj "the best politicians money can buy"
jsmack5: true jay... but i live in nassau caounty... the highest taxed county in America..... and i am paying $20 less than you for a cert... makes no sense
jaycofd: I know, I can't explain it
jaycofd: I get a headache trying to figure it out
POG70: We tell them whay they would need them for, and let them determine the number to order
fluidpusher: same here, pog, avg is 4-6
jaycofd: Onondaga county is right behind you Js
jsmack5: same here pog.... but does not explain cost differential
POG70: Barry, the "non regulation" is licensing fds, nothing to do with death certificates
barry: in michigan, only the informant can freely obtain certified copies of dc after 30 days of death. anyone else has to fill out a 7 pg. application, so i reccomend the family get more than they think they need. identity theft issue
cnmmnc: I give them photocopies as a courtesy, 6 cc's, 6 copies and I tell the family to try to use the xerox copies first and if they say no, then use the real certified copies
fluidpusher: wow, barry, in ohio they are public record
Host_John: good idea CNMM
Host_John: give them photo copies
cnmmnc: insurance policies, definately an official cc per company
jsmack5: they are always public record, fluid... subject to privacy laws...
Host_John: well we have faxed and pdf some insurance company and it went through
Host_John: we got paid
POG70: In tennessee, Dcs are not public record until 50 years after the death .... til then, copies are restricted
jaycofd: http://www.ongov.net/press/articles/953.shtml
Host_John: banks often will take original and give it back
jaycofd: this is the link showing our costs locally
fluidpusher: agree, John, that is true her
fluidpusher: here
cnmmnc: yeah, if they will, fine, but Usually they tell me the ins. co. wants a hard copy of the cc
jsmack5: i have faxed copies not yet filed to close prearrangements and had no problem...lol
Host_John: wow POG how come the wait?
POG70: Some ins companies will accept faxed Dc copies, as well as faxed claimant's statements...sure speeds things up
fluidpusher: Don't they know it's the 21st Century in Tennessee, too?
POG70: Depends upon the company
Host_John: Insurance companies are liking electronic more and more each day
cnmmnc: right
cnmmnc: hey i'm all for it
barry: i had a fd from outstate new york do a ship out for me and he handwrote the info in with 3rd grade penmanship instead of typing it in. dc looked like junk. in michigan it is lrgal to handwrite a dc with black ink, but i have never seen anyone do it.
jsmack5: is pretty much true in Ny too.... certs are a matter of public record... but if you cannot prove need or relationship to deceased.... you will not get a copy
fluidpusher: anyone can get a copy in Ohio
kj has joined.
fluidpusher: All online in Ohio, very professional looking, that's why they cost so much!!!
jsmack5: progress costs/.. lol
hinge-cap: hey kj
POG70: fp, thsat restriction went into effect after a criminal used a doctored dc to have charges dismissed because of his death.. He got a cert copy of a dc from hd and altewred the name and dates to fit him
kj: hi all .. sorry i am late
fluidpusher: wow, pog
fluidpusher: some people have to ruin it for the rest of us, huh?
POG70: Thee's also the privacy issue. They could issue a dc copy without cause of death, but ....
barry: florida has 2 types of dc, right.? long for and short form?
POG70: right, fp
POG70: \similar thing happened with preneed shenanigans
jsmack5: I am still intrigued as to why a new york state certificate obtained upstate is 20 dollars more than one on long island...
kj: ontario has proof of death forms which the funeral home gives the family and death certificates which can be ordered from the province

jsmack5: yes barry
Host_John:
jsmack5: New York City certs do Not give cause
jsmack5: nice blue eyes john
jaycofd: We can get them both ways here, Js
Host_John: thanks
kj: our certs do not give cause either
POG70: ok. John, what does the wink mean?
jsmack5: what are ya doing on friday>???? lol
Host_John: just a maker for posting chat later
Host_John: I didn't know I would get action out of it
POG70: Ok
Host_John: Yikes
Host_John:
jsmack5: new york city certificates are completely different forms from state certificates
Host_John: There is a load of them
Host_John: OK we are almost out of time
fluidpusher:
Host_John: any more on the DC and BPs?
jaycofd: Js, If you tell them the charges for upstate, I am sure they can make an adjustment for you.
fluidpusher: I will say good night, thanks for the great private chat, Tom. Nite all
Host_John: In conclusion I suggest you try to get your local FD's to come to meetings to discuss keeping the price down
fluidpusher has left.
jsmack5: an adjustment???? i am paying 20 dollars less..... why would i say anything???lol
Host_John: with the vote of a politican BP's can go to 100
POG70: Night all, the ol man has to get his beauty sleep
Host_John: Associaions are not there to save you money
barry: i shipped a case to brooklyn, nyc last month and the fd told me it didn't make any difference if i sent him a michgan permit because he could get a nyc city issued permit to bury the body????
Host_John: they could be but sadly most are not
cnmmnc: for the state and or municipality it's free money for nothing. why would they want to lower the price
jaycofd: John, around here they would rather chew and holler after than be proactive
jsmack5: permit is one thing.... certified copies of death certificate are another
jaycofd: very true, cnm
Host_John: Sad but true in most cases
jaycofd: our permits are free, so far...lol
Host_John: recently I went ot cemetery meeting and one of the FD's suggested to get rid of the discounted pricing for residents
Host_John: the board did just that
kj: i wouldnt say that so loudly .. someone is liable to hear
jsmack5: god, dont tell them anybody charges for them....lol
Host_John: now all pay the same fee
jaycofd: I know, they will figure it out soon enough
Host_John: I don't understand why the FD would suggest such a thing
kj: maybe he makes money on it ?
cnmmnc: sounds a little nutty to me...
jsmack5: nah kj.... just had a lapse in.... sanity
kj: also a possibility
Host_John: the guy needs some education on the issue
kj: i believe we charge the same for residents and non residents
POG70: a nutty fd? Perish the thought!
Host_John: local meetings once in a while are a good idea
Host_John: just mail in your fee and they renew your license
cnmmnc: imagine?!
kj: but i cannot swear to it as the cemeteries here are run separately from the funeral homes .. tho not for long
jsmack5: by october 18 will have all my ceu's for the next two years
Host_John: Licensee does not have to proove s/he is alive
Host_John: OPEN FORUM FUNERAL CHATTER UNTIL NEXT TIME, THANKS FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION
