OPENING SESSION (no pictures the new fancy camera would not perform in low light) Christine Pepper Reminded us of many of the benefits NFDA membership delivers, Dwayne Spence underlined many of the things Christine mentioned and briefly reviewed his successes, many of the past NFDA Presidents were introduced and walked on stage with Dwayne.
Major gifts announced from the stage BMI, the Keystone Group made $100,000. Commitment, the Pantone Family "Milso Industries" Scott Pantone was proud to announce, "If your in a position to be charitable, make sure to be charitable" presenting a check to the hand in hand campaign of $250,000. Bringing the total in the hand in hand campaign account to $1,820,000.
Funeral Home facility will the member not the Funeral Director, the idea is up for election and will change the dues structure, seems to be the biggest issue to be decided in Las Vegas

Jack Hogan candidate for NFDA Secretary, told us he is very grateful to be a candidate for secretary, a much healthier many recently celebrated his 40th Wedding Anniversary as well as his 40th Anniversary as a Funeral Director. Telling us of living in the funeral home as a child, his bedroom over the embalming room long before OSHA and good exhaust fans were around. He grew up cleaning the funeral home and in 1993 after a neighborhood change he sold his funeral home to SCI and now he operates one funeral home for SCI, he said SCI has never called him and told him how to vote on an issue, his conclusion was God Bless You and God Bless America
Michael St. Pierre. He told us of his years as
Teaching at Colleges and Universities in Indiana, he is an independent funeral home owner and operator along with his brother, he has 78 employees, his son daughter and niece are working in the in the business, his grand father founded NSM Mike's dream is to take care if members like grandchildren. He believes his most prepared to be NFDA Secretary and on his honor he will do his best.



The next day Jack Hogan won with 353 votes, Michael St. Pierre walked away with 291 votes, During Jack's acceptance speech Jack light heartedly said this is the only thing I ever won in this town. Jack introduced his wife, daughter and son. We were seated in front of the cheering in delight New York State Delegation, Congratulations to Jack Hogan
Action to redefine the definition of the word "Firm" I am pretty sure we can credit Pennsylvania for sponsoring this idea.


Both Resolutions were accepted for consideration over the next year, Pres. Mark Musgrove will do his best to settle the issue this year.
