Mortuary Management Seminar High Lights

I went to Mortuary Management's Seminar in Tiburon California (a suburb of San Francisco) and I came home enlightened and relaxed, I thank Ron Hast for assembling an effective seminar and for finding an comfortable setting to learn in, and for hosting a Wilbert Class party at his elegant home.

I enjoyed listening to John Horan a funeral director operating seven locations in Denver Colorado, he gave us his feelings on succession planning and some tips on how to help manage your firm as it grows, using tools such as family feed back forms to help management know how funeral professionals are treating families, John's state Colorado does not require a License to be a Funeral Director, he was one of the last receive a Funeral Director's License, since Colorado does not offer Funeral Directors Licenses, John has found effective ways to staff successfully, utilizing a fitting Application for Employment form as well as a cleaver written test, forecasting the quality and honesty of potential employees. John too countless questions with respect to his operations, I know many learned a great deal from John Horan.

Next up was Tyler Cassity, he was featured in HBO's feature for his masterful accomplishment in the restoration of the famed Hollywood Cemetery and Mortuary, now "Hollywood Forever", Tyler has operated funeral homes with his brother in the past and has received a great deal of publicity about the Hollywood Cemetery. He told us about Video Memorials he has created and will continue to create videos examples are on his website. He is making plans to new sections of his Hollywood Cemetery recently expanded it's offering to the Hollywood Community to ten thousand new spaces. He took over Hollywood Cemetery when it was in such deplorable condition, he has turned the cemetery around moving towards restoring it to it's original grandeur. Tyler Cassity gave me some new ideas on how to help families preserve their memories.

Next up was Ron Hast, he gave us many stories of successful simple ways to gain reliability and respect in your community, how to compete in new markets, by remembering to be open minded and to continuously find ways to become an attraction for other than funerals. For the rest of the afternoon and much of Sunday the almost sixty funeral professionals swapped stories and some the secrets of their successes, Ron in his ever unfolding magic managed to have a Holiday Parade March by the seminar, on Saturday night Ron had all of us over for dinner, below are links to help you see how much fun we had at Ron's house!

I thank Ron and Steve for hosting this relaxing dinner and evening at his home.
